“I was that which others did not
want to be. I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the fact
of eternal rest should I fall. I have seen the face of terror and felt the stinging cold of
fear. I have loved, cried, suffered, and hoped, but most of all, I have lived
times others would say were “best forgotten”. At least some day I will be
able to say that I was proud of what I was - A Firefighter” (Unknown

I'm Barry. I'm a career paramedic and a volunteer firefighter. I'm a full time paramedic for Titusville Area Hospital EMS (TAHEMS) and, I'm a volunteer firefighter and paramedic for the The Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Department (SVFD) and the Spartansburg Volunteer Ambulance Service. Below are some pictures of me. I have been a volunteer firefighter for SVFD since I was 14. When I was 18, I became an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and became active with the Spartansburg Ambulance. I received my paramedic certification in 1994. Currently, I am the Fire Captain (C-4) for the fire department and Vice President/Assistant Chief (A-2) for the ambulance service. I'm an instructor for ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), CPR and BTLS (Basic Trauma Life Support). When we have those rare days off together, I spend my free time with my wonderful wife. When we aren't together; I golf, hunt, ride my Yamaha Wolverine or my Arctic Cat Cheetah and play on the computer.
