DAYS OF ABSTINENCE: Catholics in the United States, from the age of 14 throughout life, are obliged to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday. The law forbids the use of meat, but not of eggs, the products of milk or condiments made of animal fat. Permissible are soup flavored with meat, meat gravy and sauces.

DAYS OF FAST: Catholics in the United States, from the day after their 18th birthday to the day after their 59th birthday, are also obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The law allows only one full meal a day.

EASTER FLOWER memorials may

be requested for the flowers at Easter by putting the name of the person being remembered on your envelope provided in your mailed envelopes, or any envelope, and dropping it in the collection basket or at the parish office. THE ALLELUIA is not used during Liturgy from the beginning of Lent until the Easter Vigil. On Ash Wednesday we “buried the Alleluia” prior to burning last year’s palms. What’s in the straw box on the altar steps? The school’s large Alleluia banner!
